I have a 160 years of antique square grand piano and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to clean and whiten the ivory keys. Any help would be appreciated.
If you have a modern piano, you've probably noticed that the solution of mild soap and water is best for cleaning your keys. However, if you have an old piano, you want to make sure you take special care of those ivory keys to clean, because if they must be replaced, they will be replaced with plastic. Things you'll need: * Bon Ami cleanser or with calcium carbonate as the sole ingredient or * non-abrasive toothpaste Toothbrush sweet * * Paper towels stage milk * 1 Wet the toothbrush. Sprinkle a small amount of cleanser above or put a small amount of toothpaste cleaner onto the toothbrush. Step 2 Gently wipe each key on the piano. It will take several minutes to clean each key, but you do not have to do all the same day. Step 3 When you finish, wipe the piano keys gently with a damp paper towel. If there are places where the oil fingers people have built on ivory, you may have to clean the button several times. Keep wiping until the keys over a grainy texture. Step 4: The Cleaner calcium carbonate calcium absorbed in the ivory keys (ivory is dental equipment) and help strengthen the keys. Step 5 Next, take a clean towel and soft paper and moisten with milk. Step 6 Buff milk in the ivory keys. After a minute or two buttons will begin to shine. You may need more polishing devices if your keys are very worn or very dirty to begin with. Step 7 The calcium in milk absorb into the ivory keys and help them keep in good condition.
