What are the traditional colors for an Indian wedding ceremony?
A good friend of mine is engaged to an Indian girl who is somewhat traditional in terms of Indian culture - I believe she is Hindi. They are having an engagement party/ceremony in May and I want to give the bride a gift. I was thinking of knitting her a lace shawl. Are there any traditional colors for Indian weddings - or any particular colors to avoid? I'd ask the groom if he knows but I want it to be a surprise. Thanks!
I think for part of the ceremony she wears orange, and for another part she wears red. In general, the whole thing is very colorful. A cool idea could be to make something using Mango Moon recycled silk, which is made from old saris and is very colorful.
